Los Angeles, CA —Seven tractor trailer trucks collided on Monday evening on the Interstate 5 in the Newhall area north of Los Angeles. Rainy weather may have been a factor in this chain reaction pileup. A trucker traveling southbound at about 40 mph lost control of his truck, causing him to swerve and hit another truck. That truck drove up an embankment and overturned. Another truck braked hard which caused it to jackknife across the freeway lanes which caused even more collisions. A total of seven trucks were involved. Fortunately, injuries were minimal. Only one driver was taken to the hospital with injuries to his hand. Four of the trucks were tanker trucks containing gas, crude oil, milk and chemicals, but none of the tanks ruptured.
